As the standards in our society plummet and our once Christian nation turns its back on God, Christian families are going to find the process of putting children through state schooling increasingly difficult.  Of course God can protect and guide a Christian family through these years, and there is an argument to say that we are there to be a witness in society but many young Christian children will falter and fall victim to the peer pressure that will be heaped upon them to conform to the Godless age we now live in.

The writer knows from bitter experience that those school days can be marred by feeling isolated, different and, with no Christian friends for support, defenceless as I slipped into a life of sin, which was not renounced until the age of 30. Of course, I was ultimately responsible for my sinful behaviour and for giving in to the many temptations that came my way but I know of other children from Christian families who are still bitter at the experience of their school life and who have still not surrendered their lives to Jesus.

It was with some joy that I read that Christian Schools are sprouting up all over the country in a direct response to the falling standards of our age.  I am convinced that this movement must be pleasing to our Lord and I pray that, in time, every Christian parent throughout our land may have the option of sending their children to a Christian School if that is their wish.  A new book has been published on this very subject.  Entitled 'The love of God in the classroom - The story of the new Christian Schools' by Sylvia Baker and David Freeman, and published by Christian Focus, it tracks the rise of this new movement in the last 30 years.  It will encourage you to see the work of God in raising up Christian Schools throughout our land, and hopefully will spur many more Christians on to establish thriving Christian Schools in their own community. The book is available from Christian Focus at the following link:
